French Grammar in the Written Work of Higher Education Students (The Case of Medical Students): A Question of Comfort or Linguistic Insecurity

Abstract

In higher education, students' linguistic insecurity affects their productivity. We are interested through this study in the impact of this phenomenon on written production among second-year medical students in Ben-Aknoun, Algiers. Noting that this study is part of the field of writing and teaching French on specific objectives (FOS), we will try to conduct a double analysis: quantitative through a questionnaire provided to students and qualitative using an analysis of certain student notes.            Our objective is to identify the factors of linguistic insecurity and to show how linguistic discomfort could affect the scriptural competence of medical students. To better understand the problem in relation to our audience, an interview with the teacher of the training language module guided us towards educational responses adapted to these learners aimed at strengthening linguistic and scriptural skills related to medical discourse.
