The Relationship between the Association of Algerian Muslim Scholars and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia before the Liberation Revolution
Main Article Content
Abstract
This study highlights the role of the sacred sites of the Hejaz as an intellectual and spiritual incubator for the pioneers of the Algerian reform movement at the turn of the twentieth century, given that the founding idea of the Association of Algerian Muslim Scholars was conceived in Medina in 1913. The study seeks to document the efforts of al-Bashir al-Ibrahimi in internationalizing the Algerian cause and securing Saudi and diplomatic backing for it, and it addresses the historical dimension of the Hejaz as a spiritual center. The study establishes that this civilizational integration contributed to dismantling both material and spiritual colonialism, to protecting national identity, and to paving the way for the outbreak of the November 1954 Revolution.
